Rondellhäxan i Huskvarna flyger till Blåkulla i kväll

2006 började en ny form av gatukonst att dyka upp. Anonyma personer placerade ut egentillverkade hundar i rondeller runt om i landet. Det blev snart en veritabel folkrörelse och rondellhundar i skiftande kvalitet placerades ut. Efter ett par år dog fenomenet rondellhund ut. 

Nu är tiden kanske mogen för en ny företeelse - rondellhäxan. Sedan ett par veckor står en rondellhäxa placerad på en kvastförsedd Monark vid infarten till Huskvarna. Jag kollade till henne tidigare under dagen innan hon rullade vidare mot sitt slutmål Blåkulla.

This is my home town - Husqvarna

All around the World people are familiar with the Swedish brand Husqvarna. But it's not only a brand like IKEA and Volvo. Huskvarna is also a Swedish town that was founded for a little more than 100 years ago and are built around the Husqvarna Factory. 



People often travel through the town by car, bus or train. But most people don't stop to visit the city, they are heading somewhere else. Therefore, I have decided to post pictures from Huskvarna in this album so that all of you all over Sweden and the World who are curious about Huskvarna and it's surroundings shall be able to visit the city through my pictures.



A couple of years ago I made a promise to the legendary Huskvarna photographer Conny Rich to try to take over his mantle and document the town with all it's pros and cons as he did for decades. Even if I know that I never can live up to Connys high standard and reputation I will try to do the best I can to continue to document the city and it's citizens till it's time fore someone else to take over the mantle.

The Village that doesn't exist

Follow me to three small Romanian villages in the Pauleasca area from where many of the EU migrants that begs on the streets in the Swedish towns Jönköping, Linköping and Stockholm come from. Pauleasca consists of the villages, Troislav, Tinca and Tufanu and about 4000 persons live in the area.



The people in Pauleasca were given land to live on by the communist regime in the late 1940s. But after the Romanian revolution in late 1989 most of the old documents from the communist era wasn't valid anymore and the vast majority of the houses in the area was considered to be illegal settlements. Today Pauleasca doesn't even exist on official Romanian maps. They are not longer allowed to travel on main roads with horse and carriage due to governmental restrictions. They are not longer allowed to pick branches of willow and birch In their nearby woods to make traditional handicraft like baskets and broom that they can sell on the local market. Since 2012 is begging illegal in Romania.



All those new restrictions paired with a unemployment rate of nearly 80 percent has created a desperate job migration to richer countries in the northern parts of the European Union. Most of the rudari and romani that migrate don't find a work and end up begging for money on the streets in their new countries to be able to support their families back home. The migration from areas like Pauleasca is not a cosmopolitan aspiration towards new horizons, it springs from a desperate struggle for survival for a minority that has been subjected for indifference, discrimination, hostility and racism from the state and ethnic romanians for years and years.



The people in the pictures belong to the rudari minority. Even if they live in Europe their living conditions are down to the same poverty level as people living in third world countries. They have substandard housing. Their life expectancy is 13 years shorter than the average Romanian. They lack running water, proper kitchen, bathroom and toilet. Many of the adults are illiterate but most kids are now in school from grades 1-4. Their food is deficient and many children suffer from malnutrition. Even if the future for the people in the area seems to be painted in dark colours I believe a change is gonna come.

Huskvarna, lite snyggare - lite bättre!

Människor runt om i världen är bekanta med varumärket Husqvarna och du har säkert rest igenom staden med buss, bil och tåg utan att ta dig tid att stanna till. Därför har jag beslutat att lägga upp en del av mina bilder från Huskvarna i ett Flickralbum så att du och alla dem som är nyfikna på Huskvarna och dess omgivning ska kunna besöka staden genom mina bilder.

Förvänta er inga lätt eller kraftigt HDR-förljugna foton för glättiga turistbroschyrer  Jag har valt att göra en personlig dokumentation av staden och dess invånare i svartvitt som visar den bild som jag har fått efter att ha bott i Huskvarna i över tio år. Jag har valt att lyfta fram både det vackra och det fula för att betraktaren själv ska kunna väva ihop sina tankar runt bilderna till en helhet.



Vem vet, kanske kan mina bilder vara med och göra lite extra reklam för bygden? Någon som är på genomresa kanske stannar till i Huskvarna av ren och skär nyfikenhet efter att han har sett mina bilder. Stannar ni till i Huskvarna ska ni givetvis passa på att äta den lokala specialiteten kebab på någon av Huskvarnas många pizzerior. Huskvarna har den godaste kebabsåsen och den godaste kebaben på den här sidan av Bosporen.



Devisen Huskvarna, lite snyggare - lite bättre skapades som en motvikt till grannstaden Jönköpings storstadsambitioner. Huskvarna är en egen stad men räknas ändå in i Jönköpings kommun och får ofta spela andrafiolen vad gäller kommunala satsningar och prioriteringar. Det är lite tråkigt med tanke på den potential som Huskvarna skulle kunnat haft om staden och dess närmsta omgivningar var en egen kommun. Vem vet det kanske är dags för Huskvarna att bryta sig loss och åter bli en egen kommun? Det skulle i vart fall sätta stopp för Jönköpings storstadsambitioner!
