Photokina rapport:
"The Viewfinder loupe is GREAT!! The guy had it in his pocket and showed it to us on a K10D. It provides an additional 1.2x magnification. I felt like looking through a different camera. The K10D's VF is great to start with, but this is one accessory that is high on my list as as now!
- Wireless flash is a definate NO. Reason being interference(?) with the SR system according to the rep. If this is indeed the case, I'm OK with Pentax's choice, since wireless is still possible through an additional flash unit, whereas for SR there is no alternative.
- At this stage, files are uncompressed and leaving room for 16bits RAW. The electronics are ready for 16bit, but until software is not (all 12bit based) Pentax will wait to upgrade. This could be done through firmware though.
- Firmware in the K10Ds at the show was 0.20. It is still being worked at, with possible updates to be expected in the month after release. Reason for this is a recent change in the hardware to deal with noise.
- The guy told us that the USER setting can store up to 50 different preferences. I looked around in the menu, but couldn't figure out how to do this, but the guy ensured us that the manual for this particular function was 6 full A4 pages of small condensed print long.
- Teleconverters: no manual override for FL for SR when using on a chipped lens. At least we couldn't find how. Shame...
- expected delivery of the first units: 4 weeks
Personal remarks:
- Sv works very nice to me, esp with program shift to allow Av.
- I love the way you can customize three different white balances. It shows the last shot while you change the parameters to evaluate the result. Very easy and flexible.
- Shutter release was much more sensitive that on the DS.
- AF button is hard to reach with the grip. I hope the OK button can still be configured to AF, didn't check. The grip feels really good though.
- AF is fast. Unfortunately all K10Ds had the lenses locked into them, so I couldn't use an older AF lens to compare for those.
- For Jonas: The various bodies I tried had consistent exposure between Av and M with the lens mounted (all DAs).
