How I calculate hoe big tellezoon i need?

Follow photo is done with my friends 70-210 f4 on 165mm on my nikon D70s so crop factor is 1,5

I need a lens to can frame the red area

Do i need a longer lens that 200mm??

I will use it not very offen so i try to keep it cheap

any tips?

Cheapest solution. Sigma 300/4,0 + 2x teleconverter = 600mm (900mm eqivalent with DSLR crop factor at 1,5). That should frame almost exactly the red marked area. Aprox cost 300/4 used (discontinued) 4000kr. Teleconv, 1800new or 1000 used. Should get you decent image quality. Better at least than any of the 80-400, 50-500 or 170-500mm zooms with 1,4 converter.
Also 300mm used without converter gives very good image quality and good max aperture. Reservations for if the electronics of this old sigma works with DSLR.

Med programmet f/calc kan du labba med olika brännvidder och bildvinklar. Jag konstaterade att du behöver mellan 750 och 800 mm för att få det där utsnittet.

PS jag fick det också till ca 750mm men tyckte att 600mm var den närmaste lösningen med bra kvalitet till ett vettigt pris. Dessutom beskär 750mm utsnittet bara med ca 20% mer än 600mm. Skillnaden blir enligt min mening knappt märkbar.
