"Well they have finally done it! Popular Photography gave its readers a hands on take of the Pentax K100D a few months back, and this month (October 2006 issue) they give us the in-depth review. As most reviews, they gave it pluses and minuses.
What they liked:
In body SR gave 2 stops for shaky folks, although they said it worked with less consistency than the Sonolta version.
Image quality rated extremely high, with excellent shadow detail and extremely high color accuracy.
AF was given kudos for being better than the Pentax predecessors, as well as for just plain being good, even in very low light.
The camera came with an excellent RAW converter.
Excellent viewfinder.
low noise
What they didn't care for:
Six megapixels
AA batteries only give 70 shots (although I wish they had explained that they give more than that with rechargable batteries. I got over 400 shots with some 2500 AA batteries with mine).
I thought it was a good review... I would have preferred a bit more detail, but oh well...
