When creating my photographic work, I want to establish with the viewer the understanding that all the locations within the images actually exist--or at least did exist at one point. They are places I have been...places that intrigue me. I linger,perhaps obsessively,over every nook and cranny. These intricate environments are part of a personal theme, an odd, somewhat historical record of an experience. They are visual proof of the ephemeron: the short-lived thing. With this in mind, the viewer who lingers chooses to suspend time and explore a place in which fancy ignites the imagination. I am attracted to the bright and shiny things in the world, as I am also drawn to the macabre, sensual, and mystical. I desire to have each image lead a viewer past reality, into a place where we embrace yet question everything seen, engage with and speculate what is happening, is about to happen, or has already happened there. We move effortlessly from credibility through the incredible into a flux where both coexist. And there, no longer quite in this world, we find beauty.
