Persongalleriet #387: Istanbul, Day 1
For the benefit of my international friends at deviantArt and facebook, I'll write my "live"-blog from Istanbul in English. I hope you Swedes won't have a problem with that. You are after all in the vast majority according to the Flag Counter.
So, my first full day in Istanbul is at an end. My head is spinning with all the impressions! And my memory cards almost filled with 1122 snaps. Yesterday was just travel. Didn't take the camera out of the bag. It was almost 10 o'clock before I arrived at the hotel and I just chilled in the hotel bed with BBC World on the telly and the usual photo sites on the laptop.
Today I went for a long walk, from 8:30 am to 3 pm, with just a few stops to rest my legs and to replenish. The hotel is close to the Grand Bazaar, so that's where I started, just walking straight through it. I'll get back to it later.
Then on through the alleys to Eminönü with the ferries, bus station, the Spice Bazaar and the New Mosque. After that over the Galata Bridge and up the hill to the Galata Tower, continuing through Beyoglu to Taksim Square. Took the subway back to the University area, which is a short walk from my hotel.
Now it's time for dinner. I'll get back to you later!
