Persongalleriet #655: Beijing 18 juni

Fortsätter idag med mitt Beijingprojekt, som jag beskrev i detalj i gårdagens blogg.

Först kommer den bild jag nu tror kommer att "platsa" i min framtida Beijingbok:

Den här bilden är också den första jag tog under dagens eftermiddagsutflykt, fortfarande på innergården vandrarhemmet delar med några till små företag och ett litet hyreshus. Jag bodde verkligen bra till för gatufoto! Ett tecken på det är att jag flera gånger tog, vad jag själv tycker, riktigt bra gatufoton precis när jag klivit ut på gatan.

Eftermiddagsturen tog mig efter ett bussbyte till Shichahaiområdet, vid de gamla kejserliga sjöarna.

Persongalleriet #643: Beijing, Day 9-11

Day 9: Went to the Forbidden City, which I wrote about in the previous blog entry.
After finishing up I felt hungry, tired and very very warm. It was +35 C after all! I had a light lunch of some mild, but delicious, jiaozi, so as not to aggravate my stomach too much. Here's a pic shot through the restaurant window:

Back in my room during the early evening I realized I had a fever. Even though I had about 2 liters of water during the day, between that tourist belly and the heat, it must have been way too little.

Day 10: A bad night with rising fever and fluids just coming out and I decided to stay in the air-conditioned room all day. Just having water and nothing else. The fever subsided eventually and in the evening I added some lukewarm Coca-Cola, with the bubbles whisked away. (Old Lindskog family household trick for upset bellies). No photos at all on day 10.

Day 11: Throughout the day, I kept drinking lots of water and a little of the coke mentioned above. Strangely enough, I felt quite energetic and went on an early morning photo-walk. Here are some of the snaps:

After the photo-walk, I tried a buttered slice of toast for breakfast which stayed with me. That got my hopes up a bit. Call me crazy, but I went on a trek across Beijing with the goal of streeting at Beijing Train Station. Found a western style café for lunch. A tuna sandwich and an iced tea worked perfectly!

I'm gonna save the train station shots for future blogs.

Persongalleriet #642: Streeting in the Forbidden City

Or Beijing, Day 9 - June 22nd, 2016.
The Forbidden City is of course the top tourist attraction in central Beijing.  So why go streeting there? There's just gonna be tourists around. Absolutely! But based on previous experiences, those tourists are going to be 99% Chinese! And that's why I went to Beijing in the first place: To shoot street with the Chinese in their environment.

What the Forbidden City is all about: Great big courtyards, massive temples and beautiful art in the details!

Persongalleriet #640: Beijing, Day 7

Monday the 20th of June, 2016.
I had decided to take the Monday off. No shooting and some rest for my aching back. And also resting my head from a, so far, pretty tough work schedule. But, still, I couldn't resist doing the morning walk! It was another sunny morning, and the light was wonderful!  :-)

A lot of the subjects you'd want to photograph are bound to be in the shadow, even in the relative cool of the early morning. (Even more so in the full blast heat of the day).

At the end of the walk I stopped for some more of those addictive little dough-buns:

After a while this guy sat down at my table to have his breakfast. He had some preserved vegetables with his dough-buns and rinsed it all down with some rice gruel.

Persongalleriet #638: Beijing, Day 5 - Lama Temple

Been there twice before, it's a really wonderful place! A top notch tourist attraction that is actually used for it's original purpose - praying to the buddha!
