Nästa Camera Raw release sägs komma ungefär samtidigt med Adobe Elements 3, vilket i sin tur kommer 'i början på November".

You can assume Camera Raw 2.3 will be released either before or at the same time as Photoshop Elements 3, since Photoshop Elements 3 is going to include the Camera Raw 2.3 plug-in.
Unofficial support means that Adobe's Quality Engineering department has not tested the support to the degree that they want, and thus cannot guarantee the results. So we don't include the camera in our official lists, and don't provide any technical support. Unofficial support means "use at your own risk".
That said, in the case of the 20D, the engineering department for Camera Raw (me) thinks the support in 2.3 will is quite good, and is likely to be approved by Adobe QE as official when they do get a chance to do their testing. There is a good chance we will move the 20D to the official list for 2.3 sometime after 2.3 ships.

...och om man 'hackar sig till' raw support med en hex-editor så är detta saker som kan skilja:
----------------
1) it is compressed
2) there are header differences
3) there are differences in several proprietary tags
4) frequently the sensors are different in small ways, even if they have the same pixel count
5) the color filters and responses change
6) and sometimes they throw in big changes
But we can't know any of this until we actually get a camera and test it.
If you want support for new cameras faster, you need to tell your camera maker to work with Adobe to make that support happen.
