Voigtländer NOKTON classic 35mm F1.4 for Sony fullframe E-mount cameras
The NOKTON classic 35mm F1.4, is a large aperture full frame lens from the Voigtländer brand specially designed for Sony E-mount. The NOKTON designation is only given to high-speed lenses in the Voigtländer lineup with a maximum aperture of F1.5 or faster. When the first NOKTON was released in the 1950s, it was positioned as a lens that enabled images to be captured even in low light. However, with constantly improving imaging sensor sensitivity, the advantage of a high-speed lens nowadays is the ability to use as a means of photographic expression the out-of-focus bokeh created by opening the aperture.
Voigtländer classic is the series name of our group of products based on the concept of classic lens designs recreated using the latest technology. Unlike modern performance-based lens designs, lenses of the Voigtländer classic series realize beauty of character and image rendering by intentionally retaining aberrations. The NOKTON classic 35mm F1.4 E-mount, which is crafted using the latest optical technology for a classic lens flavor, is a fast and compact wide angle lens revived for the modern age. The traditional symmetrical (double Gauss) lens configuration reproduces the unique image rendering of a classic lens. The graceful and gentle bokeh creates a three-dimensional feeling at full aperture, and you can enjoy its soft and delicate image rendering. While retaining the image rendering mood of the VM-mount NOKTON classic 35mm F1.4, which has become very popular since its release, the optical design is optimized for Sony E-mount sensors.
This lens is a manual focus and manual aperture design, but also features electrical contacts that enable the lens settings at image capture to be included in the Exif information of the image data. Furthermore, the lens is installed with a distance encoder to enable support for 5-axis image stabilization on bodies with this feature, for example by providing distance to subject information used in X,Y shift compensation. Focus peaking while manual focusing is also supported. The aperture ring has click stops in 1/3 steps.
Main features
■ Full frame Sony E-mount with electrical contacts
■ Characterful image rendering due to the classic lens formula
■ Optical design optimized for digital imaging sensors
■ Extremely solid and durable all-metal barrel
■ Manual focus for precise focusing
■ Minimum focus distance of 30cm
