Nödvändiga Uppgraderingar för "30 bits color fidelity"

Nedanstående saxat från Dpreview forum. Önskar få bekräftelse avseende OS. Även gärna andra synpunkter!:

Í´m planning to buy monitor Nec Spcectraview 271. It's a 10-bit/colorchannel monitor so I have to replace my present PCI card Geforcee 8800 GT with either
NVIDIA Quadro or AMD's FirePro/FireGL. MY present configurarition:

INtel core TM(2) quad CPU q6600@2,40 GHZ

8192 MB RAM

Mainbord: IP 35 PRO(INTEL P#%-ICH9R)

Software: PS 4 and LR3 (they are both 8-bit system (output)

Any suggestions abut suitable PCI crad is appreciated. I want to avoid ,if possible, to change the rest of the copmputer parts icnluding the cooling system. If that is not possible what else whould be replaced?

I'm using the NEC PA241W and upgraded to the ATI Firepro V4800 to take advantage of the 10 bit. Card works great, no issues and is on the list of cards tested by NEC for the PA series.

Make sure the video card you get has "DisplayPort" output...that is the way to both 10-bit color and support for higher resolutions.

I have only heard of properly implementing 10-bit color path on Windows 7...Not sure what you are running but, it could be required.

I´m running Vista 64. Maybe that is not eonough?

Gary is correct. You'll need WIn7/64 and Displayport. The V4800 card I mentioned offers 2 Displayport and 1 DVI connection.
